Koi Pond, 2021
Learning more skills, I followed a lesson for this goldfish, using bamboo brushes, washi paper, and chinese watercolors. I altered the scene shown in the project by having the willows touch the water and adding flies to eat. When advancing skills, find good instruction, as in #walterfoster #howtodraw book on #chinesebrushpainting pg. 13 of the #projectbook. My red seal has the kanji for my initials, and my first and middle initials, JJ. The black Kanji means carp fish as koi are carp selectively bred for their colors. Introduced to southern ponds to clean algae, carp is now an invasive species. Never toss unwanted goldfish into natural water bodies! They can grow to size of a football out eating the local species.
